Education
Potential business owners need information on a number of topics
in order to be successful. Existing business people need current
information on subjects, from marketing to tax law, in order to
stay successful. In today’s challenging business environment
the successful entrepreneur needs to be familiar with a number
of complicated subjects. One of our major goals at SCCBC is to
provide the owners of new and existing businesses with this critical
information. To accomplish this we provide three different education
programs. Entrepreneurship Training Course
Our next seminar series begins in March 2008 – registrations being taken now!
For individuals new to small business
or those who are looking for a more in-depth educational program,
we offer this 11-session course. This intensive training program,
run in cooperation with Schenectady County Community College, guides
new entrepreneurs through the step-by-step process of starting
and managing a business and helps existing business owners run
their companies more effectively and profitably.
This program is designed to provide both the theoretical and practical information that will enhance entrepreneurial and management skills.
Each session features a local expert speaking on a business topic
critical to the growth of a healthy and successful company.
Topics covered include:
- Developing a business plan
- Legal issues of a business
- Bookkeeping and financial statements
- Tax issues for a business
- Marketing
